Theale, UK, 10th December 2021 – During The Game Awards (TGA) 2021, the fighting game phenomenon THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV (KOF XV) revealed a new character as well as the upcoming Open Beta playtest.
This years’ Pre-Show of The Game Awards (TGA) 2021 held a huge surprise for fighting game fans all over the world. The popular fighting game franchise THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV revealed the upcoming character KROHNEN. With his shape-shifting arm, KROHNEN takes on everyone in his path. It seems he has some connection to the secret syndicate known as NESTS, however the details are unknown.
Fighting game afficionados can try out this highly anticipated addition to the fighter roster during the upcoming 2nd Open Beta Test of THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV. The Beta will be held on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 and will feature cross-play between both consoles. Participants will be able to face off in both online (casual match, room match) and offline (versus, training, tutorial) modes and won’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play.
The KOF XV Open Beta test will run throughout the following period:
- PST: December 17th 19:00 – December 20th 06:59
- CET: December 18th 4:00 – December 20th 15:59
- JST: December 18th 12:00 – December 20th 23:59

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV will launch on February 17th, 2022 and feature 39 characters in total, including classic popular characters and resurrected fan favorites. In addition to the classic 3-on-3 team battle system, the game introduces the SHATTER STRIKE, a new mechanic that enables players to counter enemy attacks.
Additionally, players can experience an improved MAX Mode, as well as MAX Mode (Quick). The RUSH function allows for combos to be carried out all by rapidly pressing attack buttons. All these features, including revamped and vibrant special moves, will ensure fights in this game feel more explosive than ever.
