KOEI TECMO Europe und Entwickler Kou Shibusawa kündigen die neue Erweiterung Romance of The Three Kingdoms XIV: Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack an. Seit 35 Jahren ist die Romance of The Three Kingdoms-Reihe nun ein fester Bestandteil des Strategie-Genres. Die neue Erweiterung wird in diesem Winter digital auf der PlayStation 4, Windows via Steam und erstmalig auf der Nintendo Switch veröffentlicht.
Die neue Erweiterung beinhaltet neue Möglichkeiten, beispielsweise der Handel mit großen eurasischen Imperien, inklusive Rom und Indien. Damit werden noch tiefer gehende Strategien ermöglicht, einen Weg zu finden, China zu vereinen. Zudem sind Städte von fremden Kräften zukünftig auf der Karte auffindbar. Nicht nur Konflikte im Inland sind demnach relevant, sondern auch Kämpfe an den Außengrenzen.
Gebiete erhalten verschiedene Eigenschaften. Neue geografische Vorteile werden jeder Provinz zugeordnet. Spieler müssen Strategien und ihre Eroberungen stärker abschätzen. Neue Charakteristika von Offizieren und Spezialtaktiken sowie neue Topography-Gebäude wurden hinzugefügt. Weitere Neuheiten sind ein Kalender, der Einblick in vergangene Spielaktivitäten gewährt und eine brandneue Kampagne: „War Chronicles Mode“.
