A l’occasion de la cérémonie des Game Awards 2021, SNK a dévoilé un nouveau personnage au casting de THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV, ainsi que la disponibilité prochaine d’une nouvelle bêta ouverte.
Le prochain combattant à rejoindre l’arène est KROHNEN. A l’aide de son bras métamorphe, il peut s’occuper de n’importe quelle personne qui se met en travers de son chemin. Il semblerait qu’il ait des liens étroits avec le syndicat secret connu sous le nom de NESTS, bien que les détails à ce sujet restent encore inconnus.
De plus, la seconde bêta ouverte de THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV aura lieu du 18 décembre 2021 à 4H00 au 20 décembre 2021 à 15H59 sur PlayStation 5 et PlayStation 4. Grâce au cross-play, les joueurs pourront s’affronter quelle que soit leur plateforme.
Ils auront accès aux matchs en ligne (casual match, room match), mais également hors ligne (versus, entraînement, tutoriels). Il n’est pas nécessaire de posséder un abonnement PlayStation Plus pour pouvoir profiter des fonctionnalités en ligne.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV sortira le 17 février 2022 sur PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S et PC via Steam et l’Epic Games Store.
Avec 39 personnages jouables au lancement, les joueurs profiteront du système de combat classique en 3 contre 3, mais également d’une toute nouvelle mécanique de jeu, le SHATTER STRIKE, qui leur permettra de contrer les attaques ennemies. De plus, ils pourront profiter d’une version améliorée du MAX Mode, ainsi que du MAX mode (Quick). La fonction RUSH offrira aux joueurs la possibilité de réaliser des combos en appuyant rapidement sur les boutons d’attaque. Toutes ces fonctionnalités, comprenant également des attaques spéciales retravaillées, offriront des combats plus explosifs que jamais !
La Day One Edition de THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV contient le jeu de base, ainsi que le costume à télécharger « Garou: Mark of the Wolves » pour Terry.
