KOEI TECMO Europe kondigt aan dat BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light, het langverwachte vervolg op de geliefde JRPG BLUE REFLECTION uit 2017, nu in ontwikkeling is bij Gust Studios. De gewaardeerde franchise zal op 9 november 2021 terugkeren naar Europa en verkrijgbaar zijn voor Nintendo Switch™ en PlayStation®4 Computer Entertainment System (speelbaar op PlayStation®5 via Backward Compatibility).
BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light volgt de avonturen van drie studenten: Ao Hoshizaki, Kokoro Utsubo en Yuki Kinjou. Ze worden met geheugenverlies getransporteerd naar een mysterieuze zwevende academie, waar ze op zoek gaan naar aanwijzingen die ze kunnen helpen hun weg naar huis te vinden. Op een dag verschijnt er een pad naar een nieuw land, maar voor onze drie hoofdrolspeelsters het mysterie kunnen ontrafelen blokkeren dodelijke monsters de weg. Door het gevecht aan te gaan met deze duistere wezens ontdekken ze hun verborgen krachten die de cryptische omstandigheden allesbehalve verklaren. In de loop van het avontuur moeten de drie vrienden samenwerken en het beste maken van hun dagelijks leven. Terwijl ze elke dag gevangen zitten in deze onbekende wereld, zullen de ware gevoelens en persoonlijkheden van de personages worden onthuld. Naarmate hun banden verdiepen zullen ze nieuwe krachten en vaardigheden verkrijgen.
Daarnaast zullen de hoofdrolspeelsters in het verloop van de game de ideale academie bouwen, samen items craften, afhankelijk van de karaktercombinaties de eigenschappen van items veranderen en speciale gesprekken vrijspelen. Door de groeiende vriendschappen van de drie studenten komen ze steeds dichterbij de waarheid achter de mysterieuze wereld en de reden waarom ze hun herinneringen kwijtgeraakt zijn.
KOEI TECMO heeft naast de eerste gameplay- en verhaaldetails ook aangekondigd dat de befaamde tekenaar Mel Kishida weer de leiding heeft over de karakterontwerpen van de serie. De gedetailleerde ontwerpen verrijken de wereld van zowel de BLUE REFLECTION: Second Light game als de BLUE REFLECTION: Ray animeserie.
