5 oktober 2021 – SEGA® maakt bekend dat Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania vanaf vandaag verkrijgbaar is voor Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, Xbox One, en pc via Steam. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is een eerbetoon aan 20 jaar kantelen, rollen en stuiteren door wonderlijke werelden vol uitdagende hindernisbanen. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania biedt getrouwe remasters van de originele drie Super Monkey Ball-games (Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 en Super Monkey Ball Deluxe) voor een nieuwe generatie monkey-maniacs!
Om de release van Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania te vieren, werkte SEGA samen met Powerhouse Animation om AiAi en de andere apenkoppen tot leven te wekken in verbluffende handgetekende animaties. Dit is de eerste keer dat de apenbende en Jungle Island in tekenfilmvorm zijn te zien. De geanimeerde lanceringstrailer heeft ook een origineel muzieknummer van Hyper Potions gekregen. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania levert de ultieme SMB-ervaring voor zowel fans als nieuwkomers met meer dan 300 prachtige, opnieuw gemaakte levels, 12 hoogst vermakelijke partygames en vele grappige personages. Deze uitgebreide remaster blaast de magie van de originelen nieuw leven in met o.a. vernieuwde graphics, meeslepende stripstijl-storytelling, nieuwe supportfuncties, lokale coöpmogelijkheden voor 4 spelers, online-uitdagingen en -klassementen, 100+ aanpasbare items, en vijf nieuwe bonusmodes.
Naast de klassieke personages uit de serie, introduceert Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania een reeks nieuwe helden uit klassieke SEGA-games en de popcultuur. Vanaf dag één zijn Beat uit Jet Set Radio, Kiryu uit Yakuza, en het geliefde duo Sonic the Hedgehog en Miles “Tails” Prower gratis vrij te spelen. Later komt daar nog een aantal nieuwe DLC-personages bij: popcultuuricoon Hello Kitty®, Morgana uit Persona 5, Suezo uit Monster Rancher en de SEGA Legend-consoles (Game Gear, Saturn en Dreamcast).
Naast de standaardgame arriveert vandaag in beperkte oplage een speciale, fysieke 20th Anniversary-versie van de game, die zonder extra kosten te koop is. Deze jubileumeditie wordt geleverd inclusief een artboek van 40 pagina's met art uit elke game in de serie, rechtstreeks uit de Sega-archieven. Daarnaast biedt deze versie een speciale hoes, omkeerbare omslag en 10 exclusieve cosmetische in-game-items. Daarnaast is een Digital Deluxe-versie van Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania te koop. Deze bevat naast de game zes extra, klassieke personage-skins, drie SEGA Legend-console-skins, 10 aanpasbare items en een klassieke soundtrack.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania ondersteunt ook Xbox Series X Smart Delivery, zodat spelers de game slechts een keer hoeven te kopen om hem op hun favoriete Xbox-systemen te kunnen spelen. Spelers die de digitale PS4™-versie in de PlayStation™Store kochten of de fysieke PS4™-versie in de winkel aanschaften, kunnen de PS5™-versie spelen zonder extra kosten.
